Last year I began my quest for fantasy football greatness with an impressive 5-0 start. However, through an array of hasty trades and overly eager add/drop transactions, I went on to only win 2 more games. I couldn't keep good players on my team and never had a good running back. I'm afraid I am currently experiencing some de-ja-vu.
Wow, P.S., I just saw Favre's TD pass to Percy Harvin and for all the shit Revis wants to talk it looks to me like he gave up on that one pretty quick...slouch. Oh well.
My team this year, BamaMan 2.0, is yet again large and in charge starting out the season 5-0. But according to a "friend" who doesn't see how my team is any good, they are headed for a breakdown. It has been brought to my attention that my friend, who we'll call "Jon" (spelled just like that, without the H), has been talking a little trash in his free time. He will not contribute to the articles on this blog again until specified otherwise. While it is kind of a duesh-ish move I can see where his argument now has merit. Looking at my team you can see where the breakdowns could happen.
1.) JerMichael Finley: This was my favorite pick of my draft this year. Finley was set to have a breakout year and wouldn't you know it, this monster decides he would rather tackle someone in traffic than continue to get me fantasy points...selfish.
2.) Jahvid Best & Arian Foster: Does anybody know what getting 40 points one week and 3 the next week can do to an already unstable man's health. It's not good, I can tell you that. Jesus "tap-dancing" Christ (that's what his good friends call him), I can't take it anymore. I decided to risk stability for the upside on these guys and I don't know how much more I can take.
3.)Peyton Hillis: Now don't get me wrong, I'm not being greedy. I know Hillis has put up good numbers all year. He's had a touchdown in each of the first 5 games this year and his yardage has been decent enough for double digit points. But he is always on the injury report and it is seriously messing with my emotional state. If I bench him he scores 24 points, if I play him he goes for 37 yards!
4.)The Bench: Nothing is more worrisome for a fantasy owner than a bad bench. Because you know if anything happens to your starters your going from 1st to 10th in a hurry. My bench is terrifying- First of all I had Mark Clayton, who was headed for a breakout year until he hurt his knee. Done for the season and I dropped him for Heath Miller (because Finley got hurt). Dez Bryant has done two things consistently this year: spend money and stay hurt. One of my backup running backs is the "great" Beanie Wells. This idiot runs slower than Brett Favre makes a decision. I keep wanting to drop him but he continued to improve as the year went on last year so I'm giving him a few more weeks.
After all the analysis on why my team will crumble before my eyes there is one definitive conclusion. I suck at this. Seriously, I'm the Brady Quinn of fantasy football- I've got good intentions but I can't seem to put anything together.
Oh well, there's always next year.
jon- love ya bro
